NAB 2013 Recap
We have finally recovered from NAB, this year was even better than last. As usual it was very busy for the Cell Journalist team with 15 meetings in 2.5 days. We spent most of our time in our hospitality suite at the Encore, where we met with new clients, existing clients and strategic partners. Even though most of our time was spent away from the show floor, we were able to find time on Wednesday afternoon to visit our partners. I was very impressed with our Vizrt integration. We’ve started the year off on the right foot by adding 6 additional Fox Owned Stations. We want to welcome aboard WNYW (New York), WTXF (Philadelphia), KSAZ (Phoenix), KRIV (Houston), WHBQ (Memphis) and WTTG (Washington D.C.). These 6 stations join 5 other Fox stations that came on board in July 2011. September has been a natural disaster trifecta with Hurricane Irene, Texas Wildfires and PA Flooding. In the first two weeks of September, over 20,000 images/videos have been submitted across our network. It’s interesting to see how the public covers different events: Hurricane Irene: We definitely saw more videos being submitted than usual, video is a better medium to capture wind and flooding. Over the past few months, some of our clients have had some great success stories with purpose driven UGC. Purpose driven UGC is when the station makes a call to action to the audience, asking them to submit images/videos related to a particular topic. WGCL, in Atlanta, asked people to send in content related to a story on jet chemtrails. The result was simply amazing, over 1500 images/videos came into the station in less than 24 hours.
